G. Ayorkor Korsah

Friday 13 November 2026
G. Ayorkor Korsah teaches courses and works with students in the areas of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Programming, Data Structures, and Algorithms. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Dartmouth College, and a PhD in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University. Her scholarly interests follow three main thrusts, that is: strengthening computing education, particularly in the African context; solving optimization problems, such as those that arise in robotics planning and coordination; and exploring the application of technology to various development-related problems. Dr. Korsah is a passionate advocate for women in STEM and broadening participation in technology disciplines. To strengthen the pipeline of students entering university, she co-created and is part of a dedicated team that runs the annual Ashesi Innovation Experience (AIX), a pre-college enrichment program aimed at inspiring high school students by engaging them in leadership, design, robotics, engineering, entrepreneurship and the creative arts.
Felienne Hermans

Saturday 14 November 2026
Felienne Hermans is a professor of computer science education at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and computer science teacher at Open Schoolgemeenschap Bijlmer. At VU Amsterdam, she teaches the courses Computer Science Education and AI in Education, and conducts research on the accessibility of the digital world in a broad sense. Her previous work was quite technical; in her dissertation, she developed algorithms to detect errors in Excel spreadsheets and created a programming language for children, Hedy, with which you can learn to program easily and in your own language. Hedy is found at https://hedy.org/ Her more recent work is more philosophical in nature and questions how we actually define ‘computer science’ or ‘programming’ and how those choices influence the field and the software we create. Since early 2025, she has been publishing a weekly newsletter with AI news that caught her attention that week, and sometimes older articles and book and film tips! The newsletter is available at https://www.felienne.nl/.
